Frequently Asked Questions...

Practices, when and where are they held?

Depending on the grade level of your team, practices will be held either at King's Garden or Mike Martin Gym. Practices will be on Monday and Wednesday evenings. For 5th and 6th grade practices are in KGG from 7-9pm. For 7th and 8th grade practices are in MMG from 7:30-9:30pm.

How many players are on the team, how will my son know if they make the team?

We plan on each team having 10 players.

If my son does not make the team do you know of other programs or options?

Because of the need to limit team size, there are players who still want the opportunity to play. We strongly believe we need to help and assist those players in finding alternative programs so they can continue to play and improve. Sno-King is an excellent local choice.

Is it a problem if my son plays another sport in addition to basketball during the season?

Participation in any select sport is a major commitment. In a skilled sport, such as basketball, it is no different. Making Knight Hoops Basketball the number one sports activity during the season is essential to ensure your son enjoys and gains as much out of the experience as he can.

How long is the season and when are the pre-season tournaments?

Practices begin in mid October. Our league, the WESCO Youth Feeder League, games begins in early December and extends to the first weekend in March for the league playoffs.

What can you tell me about the WESCO Youth Feeder league?

The WESCO feeder league was formed to provide a competitive basketball experience for youths in 5th thru 8th grade. Each of the 19 programs in the league draws talent from the local High School in their area to prepare those kids with the essential basketball skills needed prior to entering high school. League games are played on Saturday with each team playing two games.

Where do we play our league games?

The league schedule will be available later in November. Our home games are played at King's High School. Our road games are played in the High School gym of the other programs.

Playing time, how do the coaches determine who plays?

Since one of the goals of Knight Hoops is to offer a competitive basketball experience, our philosophy is that we will be "true to the talent." Playing time is earned on the basis of each player's effort, attention, commitment, and ability displayed in practice. Those players with the best ability to combine these skills will receive that greatest amount of playing time. At the same time, it is also our mission to develop all of the players in the program. It is each coach's responsibility to help the kids improve their skills so that they can be competitive participants in games. So unlike rec level programs, playing time is not guaranteed and fluctuates on a game to game basis.

Who are the coaches?

5th Grade: Scott Boyce, Nick Stack

6th Grade: Bart Foley, Craig Kispert

7th Grade: Mark Freise

8th Grade: Mark Fouty

Additionally, the Head Coach of the Boys basketball program at King's High School, Bill Lileyand his staff, assist our coaches in teaching and communicating King's Knights basketball technique and philosophy.

This sounds great, how can I help and become involved?

If you are interested in volunteering to help there are many areas of opportunity. If interested please contact Nick Stack at aldercrest.autorebuild@verizon.net
