Practices, when and where are they held?
Depending on the grade level of your team, practices will be held either at King's Garden or Mike Martin Gym. At this time practice schedules are still being defined by the coaches. Practices are generally 2 hours. Teams wiil practice 2 times per week.

How many players are on the team, how will my son know if they make the team?
We plan on each team having 10 players. If certain situations arise a coach does have the discretion to carry an additional player or two.

If my son does not make the team do you know of other programs or options?
Because of the need to limit team size, there are players who still want the opportunity to play. We strongly believe we need to help and assist those players in finding alternative programs so they can continue to play and improve. Sno-King is an excellent local choice.

Is it a problem if my son plays another sport in addition to basketball during the season?
Participation in any select sport is a major commitment. In a skilled sport, such as basketball, it is no different. Making Knight Hoops Basketball the number one sports activity during the season is essential to ensure your son enjoys and gains as much out of the experience as he can.

How long is the season and when are the pre-season tournaments?
Practice begins the week of October 22nd. Our pre-season tournament is the Stanwood Turkey Shoot held November 23 thru 25 at Stanwood High School. We will also try and play in a 1 day tournament on Nov 11th. Our league, the WESCO Youth Feeder League, games begins in early December and extends to the first weekend in March for the league playoffs.

What can you tell me about the WESCO Youth Feeder league?
The WESCO feeder league was formed to provide a competitive basketball experience for youths in 5th thru 8th grade. Each of the 16 programs in the league draws talent from the local High School in their area to prepare those kids with the essential basketball skills needed prior to entering high school.
League games are played on Saturday with each team playing two games. Game timesare:
5th and 7th grade: 1:30 and 4:00
6th and 8th grade: 3:00 and 5:30

Where do we play our league games?
The league schedule will be available later in November. Our home games are played at King's High School. Our road games are played in the High School gym of the other programs. To reduce travel time between games, each program is partnered up with a sister school. Our sister school is Shorecrest High School.
The league championship tournament is held at Stanwood.

Playing time, how do the coaches determine who plays?
Since one of the goals of Knight Hoops is to offer a competitive basketball
experience, our philosophy is that we will be "true to the talent." Playing time is earned on the basis of each player's effort, attention, commitment, and ability displayed in practice. Those players with the best ability to combine these skills will receive that greatest amount of playing time.
At the same time, it is also our mission to develop all of the players in the program. It is each coach's responsibility to help the kids improve their skills so that they can be competitive participants in games. So unlike rec level programs, playing time is not guaranteed and fluctuates on a game to game basis.

Who are the coaches?
We are extremely excited to announce the following coaches for this year.
5th Grade: Nick Stack, Craig Kispert
6th Grade: Kyle Doherty, Sam Hartman
7th Grade: Kevin Allen, Caleb Law
8th Grade: Mark Freise, Mark Langford, Caleb Law

Additionally, the Head Coach of the Boys basketball program at King's High School, Bill Lileyand his staff, assist our coaches in teaching and communicating King's Knights basketball technique and philosophy.

This sounds great, how can I help and become involved?

If you are interested in volunteering to help there are many areas of opportunity. Opportunities include assisting with concessions, gym set-up and clean up, being a team parent, organizing our year-end party, to name a few. For further info please contact Lisa Evans via e-mail at:
